Sean, thanks for getting back to me. I'd be interested in any early feedback or progress reports as the research develops or moves towards publishing findings. Perhaps you can blog about it yourself?

Thanks for mention Ken. I'll contact Evert and I do stress that we are only at the research stage. We will be enlisting help of users and practitioners down the line. This is not just an empty statement and this is the second time I have publicly raised the issue. Hope to get blogging at weekend as it's been a while, and keep up the good work guys.

Evert, if I can dig out details I'll be sure and pass them on. I've regular contact with one or two council members.

I've passed on this blog post and your comments to the councillor referenced in the article, his own site available at OHargain.com.

As much as I would applaud an initiative such as this being succesfull I am always doubtfull of them. More often than not city councils make these statements without actually understanding the implications and mechanics of such a network and service.
Carlows' network is mentioned but this only has a limited functionality. It is of prime importance that a study is carried out in th needs and expectations of all parties involved with this network.
Considering all that I am personally more than willing to give some advise to Kilkenny Council. So ken if you have any contacts there you can pass on my details...
