I just noticed my blog turned 1 as well. I guess I learned a few things. Maybe I'll blog about them soon. It is a good idea though. There's an International Talk Like a Pirate Day, why shouldn't there be a Blogging Day as well.

Certainly a common tag if the whole thing is going to be done online. Wreck technorati's head for the day.

Damien - Liking Clare's idea, unknown to myself until today but certainly quite practical and along the lines of what I was thinking.

Then I'll agree with Annette as well, a date around this time of year would be ideal, about 6 monthsish after the blog awards, nice way to split up the year. As regards a date for a meetup, I'd be easy enough anyway, so long as it was sunny and there were cold beers on supply!

I think there'll be wall to wall blog coverage with the awards in Feb so another time of the year would keep blogging in the news. How about the date I suggested for a meet up in Dublin? 19 August?

Could we do something like the Web2Ireland event and have a common event so that people can easily find the posts on Technorati?

Clare Wilson is involved in BlogDay which is on August 31st this year. - http://www.blogday.org/ Maybe make it then? Blog Awards are not til February and we need way more meetups before that.

However Annette http://www.inter-actions.biz/blog/?p=136 is suggesting a meetup in August too and hopes to get the food and drink blogging businesses to make an appearance.

Yeah I like the idea, although I've just recently posted something like what you suggest (because my site turned 1!)

I think putting it alongside the Blog Awards might work better (although that means waiting until 2007), that way we could have our individual personal reflections and then a big communal celebration of Irish blogging in the same day; we talk about ourselves and then we talk about each other!

We should also book O'Connell Street for some kind of parade :D

Seriously though, would be cool to have an event to mark the day, and there's no better (or more plausibly successful) blogging event in Ireland than the blog awards..
