Gotta Love O2

Update: Managed to get my phone book back at 23:16. I think I should have sent messages to those people just to say I. In particular, the number that was entered simply as “myself”. Now, wouldn’t that person get a shock!

I’ve got no idea who Sharon, Cowhey, Tomas Z and M. Sexton are but they’re a few of the entries in the O2 phonebook seemingly tied into my account.

Mistaken identity? Have I logged in to someone elses account? It has my name, has the right balance for my phone, but everything else has disappeared and I’ve got loads of new people in my phone book – and none of my original entries.

For the love of God O2….. sort it out! How long should it take an organisation that big, with vasts amounts of daily traffic, subscriber numbers in the millions, to sort out their website? I’ve no patience this weekend….

This is one thing i gotta love about meteor.. All ready to use when i need it! :P

Perhaps it isn’t o2 Ken, just you going mad?? LOL

  2. Ken McGuire says:

    No no, its O2…

They issued letters last week advising us about a change of website. Must have been something pretty big to get ALL their online customers to re-register for services. There had been a few security lapses last year as revealed by Robin Blandford but since they relaunched the website during the week the online service has been desperate at the best of times.

  3. Sean says:

Ah.. well they should have used Event Ireland. :) Then everything would be perfect..

On the subject of texting from online, would it be possible to code a program that i could text my friends of, (like skype) but would log into the meteor website for me and send the text like that?? Just wondering! :D

  4. Ken McGuire says:

Assuming you’re looking for something like O2′s Desktop text application?

Sure, if you think you can do it, then why not…. or just go ask Meteor what their plans are for any office applications or mobile apps… they’ll set you straight soon enough.

  5. Sean says:

    02 have desktop text?

  6. Ken McGuire says:

They do… or at least did with the last iteration of the site. Just a standalone app that hooks up to your account…

  7. Sean says:

damn them.. that was MY idea… MINE!!!!!! and how come your not on google talk but your commenting ken??

    Yahoo made a world cup widget… :)

I hadn’t even realised o2 had changed their site. I use it so rarely because its absolute muck. So I signed up and everything seemed to be fine but then the webtext app isn’t loading. This is just the usual nonsense from o2.

  11. Ken McGuire says:

Ah the old webtext situation…. yeah, it’s a demon waiting for it to load. Been extremely dicey over the past week but there’s been times with the previous site that were just as bad (webtext wise). If the last site was muck, at least it bloody worked :)

  12. Rob Comber says:

In my experience that was not the case. It didn’t work either! I’d say it only worked once every 6 or 7 times I’d try use it, hope this improves. You’ve got to give it to them for putting up the “We may still be experiencing technical difficulties. Please bear with us” though. Chancers!
